November 17, 2014

I spent all day Saturday and today painting.

Well, I guess not all day. We did make a quick trip to the home improvement store today.

As a side note, I have known Ryan for at least 13 years and I have heard more times than I can count the story of how children should not ride under shopping carts because his brother Nick once lost a fingernail doing it. I purposely sent Ryan this picture today. He told me that same story as if I had never heard it. I wrote back that if Zachary did get hurt riding like this I was simply giving his siblings a story to tell people for the rest of their lives.

Have I piqued your interest?

I always draw a heart in the new peanut butter. In fact, it has become expected. I found this picture on my phone.

I guess it really is just that important to them.

These two went a fishin' today. What a lucky pair.

This is how exciting it is to watch mom mop the kitchen floor.

We did not get a picture of all of us together the entire Halloween week.

I LOVE that November is here and can't wait for Nina's birthday coming up!

Just look at her face.

This picture makes me want to stop and smell the roses more often. Makes me want to find more joy in my daily tasks. Makes me want to enjoy my little ones who haven't gone off to school yet to be in the world. Makes me want to slow down and have more patience with what seems to be daily drudgery. It also makes me want to take this little girl to the park to swing some more.

Of course we had to hurry and do our pumpkins last night, two nights before the big night. If you just put on your painting clothes and take a deep breath it goes pretty well.

Here's to Saturday when this holiday will finally be over. Talking to Ryan this morning, I think that in the years to come we are going to start only dressing up on Halloween. The festivites have gotten out of control and by the time actual Halloween day comes around nobody really wants to participate. Yeah, new rule in our house. We will only dress up on Halloween day.

Remember my last post about Cornbelly's? Well, I've finally gathered some more pictures from that adventure and some other highlights from our October. The first time we went was with some friends and we stayed for 5 hours and still hadn't gotten to everything. We had so much fun that we decided to bring dad and go again. So on Fall Break I took the kids at noon and 9 hours later we had finally had our fill. Grampa met us there in the afternoon and then dad that evening. I only lost one child in all that time by myself. Hey, I'm looking at the glass as half full. Anyway, we will totally be making this a new fall tradition, not losing someone, going to Cornbelly's.

This month we also picked our pumpkins from our very own patch.

I assume General Conference meant something to at least Maybe.

Sleeping buddies.

Maybe has been in gymnastics for the last few months and is totally loving it (she's in the red).

I don't remember where we were coming from. They must have had a good time!

I've been on an applesauce making kick. My friend has an apple tree so what else am I suppose to do with an unlimited supply of free apples?

Ryan bought me a piano. I'm so excited! I think it's gorgeous.

How does anybody sleep like this?

I met Curious George.

These girls love their dad.

The leftover tomatoes. Way too many.

Seth's homegrown watermelon. We had given up on it, but found it this past Friday and were all so surprised it had gotten so big. Perhaps the secret to gardening is just forget about it and let nature take its course.

This scares me so much each time I turn around and Spiderman is standing there. Spiderman thinks it's funny.

And finally, Li'l Nate took his first steps this past Sunday at church.

Cornbelly's at Thanksgiving Point. Totally worth it.

This little guy had his first birthday!

He couldn't have cared less.

Time is moving so fast. It feels like he just joined the family. There's no way it has been a year already.

I love cake. Like really love cake. I especially love super cute bright cakes for a first birthday.

The look on his face pretty much sums up how much he cared about opening presents.

We love you Li'l Nate!
